Hi Dear Readers,
How are you doing?
This week seemed to fly by in a blur. Work was busy. The kids were busy. I’m pretty sure the only one not busy in our house was Tank. The kids have a few containers growing plants. They were able to pick a couple of strawberries and the lettuce is growing like crazy.
I just finished Paradise Peak by Janet Dailey. Yes, I am a bit of a fan of hers.
The story is set in gorgeous mountains of Tennessee. I haven’t been to the mountains but have seen pictures. My dad went to the Smoky Mountains when he was in college and brought back Reels for a Viewfinder. My brothers and I had a shoe box full of Reels that we would look at on rainy days. The Smoky Mountains was one of my favorites. It is on my bucket list to see.
Anyway, the main character is Travis who finished his prison sentence. He is on his way to Tennessee to make amends, if possible. Along the way, he falls in love, makes mistakes, and learns to grow into a good human. I felt that the story was beautifully written and pulled at my heartstrings as Travis fought for a second chance at life that he wasn’t sure that he deserved. Of course, there were horses in the book too.
As a warning, the book does mention drunk driving and domestic abuse.
What have you read this week?
On the writing side, I am getting closer to being done. I wasn’t able to work on the story as much this week as I wanted but my word count is at 77K. It should end out at 100K which is what My Cowboy of Convenience ended at.
I do have a question for you. I am trying to plan what I am writing next. What do you like better: short stories that are finished in one or two emails or long stories that span over several months?
This week I have another sale going on. It is a little bit different from the other ones I have been in. This is one to celebrate women authors. There are a lot of good books for sale in it with several small town and cowboy themed books. Also, there isn’t just romance. So take a peek and see if something interests you!
That’s all for this week. Have a great one and see you next week.
Hugs,
Allie
I'm reading Thunder Game by Christine Feehan . A five ⭐ read
I am reading a boy and his dog at the end of the world. It’s so good I’m at 1/2 way point. I don’t want to finish it.
