Dear Reader,
Welcome to the New Year! I always find the start of a new year to be fun and exciting. It seems as if it is full of possibilities, changes, and adventures. Whether it fulfills those dreams or not, is anyone’s guess.
Do you do New Year’s resolutions?
In college, my friends and I would get together on New Year’s Eve. We weren’t a wild group so our get togethers were at someone’s apartment. It usually involved card games, pizza, lots of snacks, and some drinks. Then at midnight and after the toasting, we’d sit down in a circle and talk about setting resolutions for the new year. Honestly, I can’t recall any of the resolutions and most of them probably never made it to February 1st. I just remember spending quality time with my close group of friends.
Now, I don’t set resolutions because I find they never stick. Instead, I sit down and set goals twice a year. Once in May and once in November. This year, one of my goals is to read 1 novel a week and keep track of the books I read. I made a page in my planner to record the books once I complete them. My other goal is to write for an hour every day. I cross off the days in my planner with bright red ink. So far, I am happy to report January is full of red X’s.
What resolutions/goals did you set for 2024? Do you have reading goals and how do you keep track of the books you’ve read?
I read mainly on my phone or physical books. About a month or so ago, my Kindle stopped holding a charge. It was one of the first Kindle Fires and thus old. Did you know that Amazon has a trade-in program and a recycling program? It was super easy. I filled out some information about my Kindle and they set me a shipping label. I mailed in my Kindle and received a small credit on my account and a discount towards a new Kindle. I’m not sure if I am going to get a new Kindle or try another type of e-reader. Currently, I’ve been reading a lot of books through my local library via the Libby and Hoopla apps. So, I technically don’t need to read on a Kindle. What do you read on? Do you have recommendations for an e-reader?
Speaking of books to read. With January upon us, maybe you are like me and looking for some new books to read. My Cowboy of Convenience is part of this promotion of new books. Maybe you’ll find something that interests you!
I have added this book to my TBR. I thought it sounded fun and interesting.
Book Blurb:
It's been three years and I still can't open my heart to another man.
Daniel Franklin, a.k.a. Mr. Tall Dark and Handsome New Neighbor, may just be the one to melt my icy heart.
Just when I agree to let down my guard, in walks the gold digger ex-wife, crashing our impromptu dinner date.
What was I thinking? I cannot trust Daniel or any man.
Plus, his son DJ was just assigned to my class. Dating a student's parent could put my job in jeopardy.
Now I'm stuck together with Daniel coordinating the third grade science fair.
He is determined to win my trust, while I have resolved to keep my distance and not get hurt.
I deserve to be happy and find love again but that will require a leap of faith.
Other than that, Second Chance with My Bull Rider won the poll last month. We will start it next week, so stay tuned for it!
Book Blurb:
What do you do when the past is your future?
Eleven years ago Delilah Allen was in love, but he left her heartbroken and alone. To survive the pain, she threw all of her passion into becoming one of the top nurses in San Antonio.
The Happy Hearts Therapeutic Riding Center needs a new owner or it will have to close. Now, burnt out from her job and looking for a change, Delilah steps up to help the children and the horses. It is her dream come true until everything falls apart. Suddenly she finds herself with a herd of horses, no job, and no money.
Kade Kisment has been on the road for the past eleven years trying to run from the mistakes he made in Sunnydale, TX. He has scratched out a living on the bull riding circuit and is now one of the top riders.
Just a few months before the Bull Riding Championships, he is laid up with severe injuries and only his brother, Kaleb, has a place for him to stay. But Kade's injuries and the family ranch are too much for Kaleb to handle by himself.
Kaleb runs into Delilah at the grocery store and offers her a job as an in-home nurse, taking care of her ex-boyfriend, Kade. Can she control her heart long enough to earn enough money to save the riding center and her new future? Or will the past be too much to overcome?
A big thank you to everyone who bought/borrow/read My Cowboy of Convenience. Please leave a review. This helps the book get seen by other readers.
I’ll talk to you next week. Have a nice weekend!
Hugs,
Allie
I don’t set reading goals just read all my review copies on time. I read on my iPad mini, find it’s just the right size to carry in my bag and can use for so much more than a kindle and bigger than a phone for my old eyes. My record of books read is just kept on my kindle or iBooks apps.
