“My cousin Cassandra will be coming in a few weeks to work in the office. She is off-limits just as any other Kisment women are.” I stared at the cowboys. Most of them nodded along. Henry shrugged his shoulders. “We are waiting on the horse trainer to get here. Then, the young horses will be in training. Grayson and Zack, you’ll be helping him.”

Grayson’s eyes lit up. “Yes, sir.” Zack jerked his chin in acknowledgement.

“Alright, that’s it. Help yourself to the coffee.” The coffee and pastries sat in the middle of the table in the cafeteria. The cowboys had already eaten half of them.

The chairs scrapped the floor. Spurs jingled. Boots clomped on the floor. Adam approached me. He shoved his hands into the pockets of his mechanic’s overalls.
