Happy St. Patrick's Day
Hi Dear Reader,
Happy St. Patrick’s day!!! Do you celebrate it? If so, how?
I don’t have much to say this week. At work, it has been standard spring actvities which includes wellness exams, vaccinations, Coggins testing, and dental on the horses. Wellness exams are where I check over the horse to make sure it is healthy enough for vaccination, like a routine yearly. Coggins testing is an annual blood draw for Equine Infectious Anemia. It is an uncurable virus that attacks the red blood cells, destroying them and slowly killing the horse. Thankfully due to yearly testing, it isn’t a common disease in our normal horse population of Minnesota.
And dentals. This is where I sedate the horse and place a metal speculum in the mouth so the horse can’t bite me. I check the teeth, gums, tongue, etc. Then due to the way our horses chew, they develop sharp points on the edges of their teeth that I remove with a “float”. The sharp points can cause ulcers in the mouth and affect chewing and the horse’s rideability due to pain. Most horses get this done once a year.
Writing Update:
Still working on Cassandra and Trevor’s story.
Reading update:
I am reading Riders of the Purple Sage by Zane Grey and Janet Daley’s Hart’s Hollow Farm. Neither has been turning out to be a lighthearted read. I just started Zane Grey so I can’t comment on it too much. Hart’s Hollow Farm has a nice romantic feel to it, but there are heavier themes of survival, substance abuse, and dementia.
Have you read either one of these? Do you have any recommendations on a good book you’ve read?
I do have a few options for you to explore.
Book Blurb:
Compatibility - 0. Sexual chemistry - Off the charts.
Callum Lewis lives a no-complications life. No long-term women, no staying overnight, and absolutely no commitment.
Shannen Morgan has never known anything as frivolous as a one-night stand. She certainly wouldn’t dream of having a quickie with the stubbled bad boy she meets in a bar.
Right?
Tired of her country club, ladies-who-lunch lifestyle, Shannen flings her romance rule book out the window, never expecting to see Cal again—especially not in her classroom as the father of the troubled five-year-old boy she teaches.
Despite their obvious differences, the mismatched pair just can’t keep away from each other. As lust turns to feelings, Cal struggles to conceal his shady past from the woman he's falling for, while Shannen battles the disapproval of her judgmental best friend, who thinks Cal is as pointless as last season’s designer handbag.
But when Cal's secrets bubble to the surface, Shannen is faced with a dilemma: stick around for the fireworks or retreat to the safety of her predictable life. With love on the line and chaos at every turn, Cal and Shannen must decide if they're brave enough to chase happily ever after.

All of You is a small-town good girl/bad guy romance set in England (UK). It features elements of hurt/comfort, high heat and intensity levels, and a healthy dose of humour.
