Hi Dear Reader!
How are you doing? How was your week?
I was going to write to you last night, but our area was hit with a derecho. I didn’t know what that was. According to Wikipedia it is a “widespread, long-lived, straight-line wind storm that is associated with a fast-moving group of severe thunderstorms known as a mesoscale convective system.”[2]
The storm hit at around 10:30PM and within a few minutes knocked over our neighbor’s very ancient, monstrosity of a tree, killing the power to the block. It was the kind of tree that kids build elaborate tree forts in. Little Bock 2 was asleep and stayed asleep during the storm. Little Bock 1 thought it was fun to use a flashlight and to read her bedtime stories by the light of a book light.
Thankfully, everyone in the neighborhood is all right. I’m used to my peaceful mornings. Not today. The whole neighborhood is up. Generators are running. Chainsaws are cutting away trees. The neighbors are congregating in each other’s yards in pajamas looking at all the fallen trees.
I do have some free sweet romance reads for you to check out this week. The promotion ends on the 31st!
That’s all for today. I should probably make a coffee run. It might be a long day.
I hope you and your loved ones are safe and well.
Hugs,
Allie
