Hi dear Reader!
I hope you had a happy Halloween. It was a non-event in the Bock family house. Usually, Little Bock 1 and I sit out at the end of our drive in lawn chairs. We drink hot chocolate and give out candy to all the kids. This year, it was what the weathermen call a “wintery mix”, like it is a bag of assorted candy or a bouquet of flowers. Nope. It is not that nice. It was cold and windy with lots of rain and snow flakes. Definitely not weather to take little kids outside.
With the weather changing from nice to rainy and cold, I have had my share of sick horses to work on. They are either colicking where they have a tummy ache for some reason. Sometimes, it is just some built up gas which is relieved with some banamine (an anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen for horses). Other times, it is serious like an impaction or a torsion which require a trip to a hospital for IV fluids and surgery. I also have had a handful of horses get pneumonia.
